Common Questions

Everything You're Wondering, Answered.

Is the $150 program fee really all I'll pay?
Yes, if you're approved for the Private Futuro Grant. Tuition and CPR certification are covered. The $150 is a one-time program fee, paid only after grant approval. Not before.
When do I pay the $150?
Only after your grant is approved by Futuro Health. There is no upfront cost to apply, and no payment required during the application or review process. You pay $150 when you're approved and ready to enroll.
What if I don't get approved for the grant?
If you don't qualify or aren't approved, we'll talk you through other options at Northeast Medical Institute, including payment plans for our self-pay programs. You're not locked in by applying.
How long does the program take?
The CNA program runs a few weeks of instruction and is offered in a self-paced format. Phlebotomy is similar in length and is taught in a hybrid format with hands-on training.
Can I do this if I'm working full time?
Many of our students work while training. The CNA program is self-paced so you control your timing. Phlebotomy follows a hybrid schedule with set hands-on sessions. We'll walk you through scheduling that works with your life when you apply.
Do I need any prior healthcare experience?
No. These are entry-level programs designed for people new to healthcare. If you're 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and live in Connecticut, you can apply.
Is there an age limit? Can older adults apply?
There's no upper age limit. Healthcare careers welcome motivated people of all ages, and many of our most successful students are starting second careers later in life.
What jobs can I get after I'm certified?
CNAs work in hospitals, nursing homes, residential care, and home health. Phlebotomists work in hospitals, clinics, labs, and donation centers. Both certifications are in active demand across Connecticut.
